Business Development Manager

We are seeking an exceptional individual to fulfill the role of Business Development
Specialist. This person should have experience with sales, maintaining business relationships
and generating new business for the company.

General Summary:

Achieves maximum sales profitability, growth and account penetration within an assigned
territory and/or market segment by effectively selling the company’s services and/or related
products. Personally contacts and secures new business accounts/customers.

Core Functions:

 Promotes/sells/secures orders from existing and prospective customers through a
relationship-based approach.
 Demonstrates products and services to existing/potential customers and assists them in
selecting those best suited to their needs.

Details of Function:

 Establishes, develops and maintains business relationships with current customers and
prospective customers in the assigned territory/market segment to generate new business for
the organization’s products/services.
 Makes telephone calls and in-person visits and presentations to existing and prospective
 Adjusts content of sales presentations by studying the type of sales outlet or trade factor.
 Keeps management informed by submitting activity and results reports, such as daily call
reports, weekly work plans, and monthly and annual territory analyses.
 Resolves customer complaints by investigating problems; developing solutions; preparing
reports; making recommendations to management.
 Researches sources for developing prospective customers and for information to determine
their potential.
 Develops clear and effective written proposals/quotations for current and prospective
 Expedites the resolution of customer problems and complaints.
 Coordinates sales effort with marketing, accounting, logistics and others required.
 Analyzes the territory/market’s potential and determines the value of existing and prospective
customers value to the organization.
 Creates and manages a customer value plan for existing customers highlighting profile, share
and value opportunities.
 Identifies advantages and compares organization’s products/services.

 Plans and organizes personal sales strategy by maximizing the Return on Time Investment
for the territory/segment.
 Supplies management with oral and written reports on customer needs, problems, interests,
competitive activities, and potential for new products and services.
 Keeps abreast of product applications, technical services, market conditions, competitive
activities, advertising and promotional trends through the reading of pertinent literature and
consulting with marketing and technical service areas.
 Participates in trade shows and conventions.
 Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops;
reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in
professional societies.
 Should be able to meet assigned minimum target.


 Reports directly to the Director of New Business Development.
 Must possess 4 years of experience in various industry, manufacturing or service sector
(Head Hunting, Temp labour or other related Sales).
 Experience in establishing binding agreements
 Possession of a post-secondary degree in Business, Marketing or related fields.
 Demonstrated aptitude for problem-solving; ability to determine solutions for customers
(consultative sales approach).
 Must be results-orientated and able to work both independently and within a team
 Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
 Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite applications, Google Apps and the ability use these
tools to the maximum benefits.
 Valid G driver’s license.
 Knowledge of a CRM based system would be a definite asset.
 Proactive and persistent in achieving results and able to operate effectively in a high demand
environment without compromising quality and productivity.
 Strong business acumen along with excellent selling and negotiation skills
 Effective presentation skills are required
 Proficient hands on approach with product/service demonstrations
 Strong understanding of the sales process, our successful candidate will
have a proven track record for prospecting, generating leads, maintaining a strong sales
funnel of new opportunities and execution of account conversions.
